Styles 2009 Fashion & Awards


Styles 2009 took place on December 2nd at 7 West Lofts before hundreds of members of the fashion industry, press and fashion forward consumers.

The 25 finalists, selected from over 1,000 worldwide submissions, were the most geographically diverse in the competition’s history. These aspiring designers hailed from Turkey, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, Israel and Taiwan, with U.S. designers from New York & Los Angeles.

9 judges were hand at the event including designers Victoria Bartlett, Douglas Hannant, James Coviello, Justin Chang, Wenlan Chia of Twinkle, and Michelle Siwey; Elle's Anne Slowey; Style expert Katrina Szish, and "Ford Supermodel of the World" Hyoni Kang. Emmy Award winner CW Morning reporter / anchor Tamsen Fadal was the Award's Host.

Finalists were chosen by a selection committee of editors, buyers and stylists from top fashion retailers and publications including Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman, Details, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Neiman Marcus, Refinery 29, Saks Fifth Avenue, Steven Alan, Vogue and Women’s Wear Daily.

Designers who have debuted at Styles include Rodarte, Peter Som, Sari Gueron, Jay McCarroll, Duckie Brown and Cloak.
