Directed by: David Lee Miller
Cast: Brooke Nevin, David Carradine (in one of his last roles), Gabriel Sunday, Joe Mantegna, Mariel Hemingway, Michael Welch, Nora Dunn, Vanessa Lengie and Zachary Ray Sherman.
Winner of the Acura Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at the 2009 Gen Art Film Festival in New York City, "My Suicide" follows Archie Williams (a showcase for the multi-talented Gabriel Sunday), a high school student who sends shockwaves through his school after announcing to his film class that he is going to commit suicide on screen. What begins as a polemic about our over-saturated media culture turns into a deeply personal exploration into the fragility of teenage emotions. Writer-director David Lee Miller, in a unique collaboration with his cast and crew, stuffs the film with an awe-inducing relentless hyper-assault of mixed media devices and disorienting frames of reference that quietly dissolve and become more coherent as the film focuses inwards. "My Suicide" is part "Four-Eyed Monsters," part "Natural Born Killers" with a peppering of "Donnie Darko."
"My Suicide" has won numerous awards at the many festivals it has played including the Crystal Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.
