What inspired this collection? The SS10 collection references a lot from early 90s vintage pieces, hence the acid wash in the Washed Velcro and the floral pattern of the Floral Heezy. We also have the white, black and tan lows, which I wanted to feel like a modern interpretation of an old school classic.
Did you listen to any specific albums while working on this collection?
I listened to some of the new works from Kid Cudi, Amanda Blank, and Rob Roy, but my playlist is always changing. Music is a big driving force in allowing me to stay creative, so it always has to be fresh.
Can you explain your design process?
I usually start with a silhouette and as I gain inspiration I start to play with different concepts, trying out new colors, textures and patterns. Also, a lot of what goes into my design process includes researching our previous season, seeing where we excelled and building the collection from there.
Describe the space where you do your work.
We do everything out of a creative house space in West Hollywood. I¹m a very visual person so I keep things around that inspire me, a wall dedicated to photos and fabric swatches, a bookshelf stacked with magazines and a rack of vintage clothes.
Favorite spot in LA to go out?
Clubs aren't really my forte but when I do find the time to grab a drink I venture out of Hollywood (the majority of the time) and over to Silverlake to one of my favorite classic bars, the Dresden. They’ve got an 80-year-old couple singing duets in the piano bar and it’s the perfect spot to have a couple White Russians.
Three things you can¹t live without?
Shoes, laptop and Starbucks.
