Fresh Faces: Seneca Rising

Andi Ballard’s designs are born out of a peaceful environment...

What inspired this collection?

First and foremost it's about lifestyle. For me, spring is about long days, nights by a bon fire, flowers and beautiful sunsets. It’s the feeling of the season combined with what you want to be wearing to enjoy it.

Is there a certain girl who embodies this collection?
I’d like to think she’s a girl who’s pretty confident in her individuality. She doesn’t want to look like she’s trying too hard; she likes to look effortlessly beautiful.

Can you explain your design process?
I'm all about a peaceful environment; I can't have too much noise and definitely no drama. Also as I start designing a new season, I meticulously clean my office but by the end of designing, it’s a wreck again. It’s how my team knows when it’s ok to interrupt me—if it’s clean, come on in. If it’s a mess…beware!

What were some of your favorite Spring 2010 collections?
Balmain, Miu Miu and Valentino.

Did you listen to any specific albums while working on this collection?

Simon & Garfunkel, Led Zeppelin and Creedence Clearwater

Three things you can’t live without?

My Dog, my fiancé and my grandma's necklaces.

Favorite fashion blogs?
The Fashion Spot, Sea of Shoes and Bleach Black.
