We sat down with the woman behind the line to discuss her Gen Art runway debut

Let’s talk inspiration.
This collection is for all the women who I know in my life, and for the woman I want to be. It’s very travel friendly. My clientele is pretty wide—from daughters to mothers—with a modern working womens’ lifestyle.

I’m desperate for a holiday—I haven’t been on one on a long time—and it shows in this collection. I thought, what would I want to have if I were to go from New York to Formentera to take a holiday? So it’s a very preppy, holiday girl this season. But it’s all about how you accessorize and how you layer.

What luggage would this woman carry on holiday?
Something pretty, beautiful...maybe Vintage Louis Vuitton

Which Spring 2010 collections are you looking forward to seeing?
I’ve been in my old world. I’m launching a second line with my best friend Richard Ruiz. We have a tiny collection for younger girls; it’s cheaper than our own independent lines. It’s a little more hipster, a little more fun.

Are there certain places in the city you go to get inspiration?
I live in Nolita so I just walk out my door.

Three things you can’t live without?
Dyptic scented candles, nice white sheets, good moisturizer.
