Gen Art invites platinum & higher level members to a private reception and tour of CYNTHIA-REEVES featuring an exhibition of new works by Australian artist Sarah Amos, showing October 15 - November 14. Ms. Amos will be in attendance to speak about her exhibition work.

About Sarah Amos:
Sarah Amos, a master printmaker, is originally from Australia. Her new work is a series of large-scale paper tapestries incorporating oil based inks and conte pencil, carbonundrum and mixed media in tandem with richly layered printmaking processes. Her visual vocabulary demonstrates a consistent allegiance to her heritage and cultural awareness; in the newest body of work the marks have become more complex, and the spatial sense shifts dramatically. The works reference her native landscape, while interjecting personal observations of man's impact and influence on the land.

This exhibition of new work at CYNTHIA-REEVES, is the artist's fourth show at the gallery. Her concerns with implied landscape, both real and imagined, and her mastery of the printmaking medium are hallmarks of her work. In this new series, Amos focuses on formal concerns: line, color, texture. These unique works on paper are mural sized, and rely on overprinting and the artists use of multiple highly textured plates.

About CYNTHIA-REEVES:
CYNTHIA-REEVES, formally Reeves Contemporary, was founded in 2001, when it opened its gallery space in Chelsea. Following the successful launch of her New England gallery, Spheris, in 1995, Cynthia-Reeves became the New York venue for Ms. Reeves' curatorial eye. Cynthia-Reeves features artwork with a strong conceptual foundation and innovative use of materials, specifically mixed media, three-dimensional works and site-specific installation.
