Los Angeles Cinema Circle | Shrink | July 2009

On Thursday, July 16 2009, high-level members and guests attended an intimate poolside Cinema Circle screening and pre-reception for "Shrink" at the W Los Angeles Westwood Hotel. Director Jonas Pate and select cast were in attendance. Guests enjoyed Kim Crawford wine.
Synopsis:
What happens when the people we count on to hold us together…are barely holding it together themselves? Shrink is a striking, fast-paced exposé of the “rarely seen" Hollywood, featuring folks living outside their comfort zone and the people who put them there. Henry Carter (Spacey) is a psychiatrist with an A-list clientele, including a once-famous actress (Burrows), an insecure young writer (Webber - who directed last year's festival audience award winner, "Explicit Ills"), and a comically obsessive-compulsive superagent (Roberts). However, when Carter is asked to take his first pro bono case, a troubled teenage girl from a neighborhood far from the Hollywood hills - his own demons bubble to the surface causing him to slowly lose control in a cloud of smoke. Watching Shrink makes us feel like voyeurs looking through a window into the lives of people who look great, feel worse, and end up behaving badly.
Led by Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey, this film has a bevy of recognizable and impressive talent including Robert Loggia (more than 100 films including "Big" & "Scarface"), Keke Palmer (lead of "True Jackson, VP"), Dallas Roberts ("The L Word"), Saffron Burrows ("Troy"), and one of this year's Gen Art Fresh Faces in Film Sundance Honorees Pell James ("Fanboys", "Zodiac").
